What changed at Sky Mobile in 2024?+
Two significant changes: (1) Piggybank storage was reduced from 3 years maximum to 12 months (April 2024) — a meaningful reduction for users who relied on long-term data banking. (2) The Data-free Sky TV feature was removed for new customers — previously, Sky Go streaming did not count against your data. Any Sky Mobile review or guide written before 2024 may describe features that no longer apply.
Which network is fastest for 5G in 2026?+
Three holds 140MHz of 5G spectrum — more than any UK rival. Opensignal's January 2026 report rated Three #1 for 5G Download Experience at approximately 187Mbps median download. EE leads for widest 5G geographic coverage at 87%+ of UK population across 500+ towns. Speed and coverage are different metrics — Three wins on peak speed, EE wins on breadth.
Does any network include free EU roaming on all plans?+
Yes. O2 is the only major UK MNO with free EU roaming on all standard consumer plans (25GB, 48 destinations). Tesco Mobile includes the same on most plans. Lebara includes EU + India roaming on all plans (30GB). iD Mobile includes 50 destinations including USA/Canada/Australia on eligible plans. Three is free only on Value and Complete tiers. EE only from Essentials Plus. Vodafone only on Xtra plans. Sky Mobile varies by plan.
What is the VodafoneThree merger?+
Three UK and Vodafone UK merged into VodafoneThree, completing 31 May 2025. Both brands continue operating completely separately — different plans, pricing, apps, and customer service. A £11 billion network investment was committed targeting 99% 5G population coverage by 2030. Customers on either brand were not forced to change plans or SIMs.
Why is Tesco Mobile rated #1 if it is an MVNO?+
Tesco Mobile has topped Ofcom's customer satisfaction surveys multiple times and won Uswitch Best Customer Service 5 consecutive years — consistently outperforming all four major MNOs. What is the pounds-and-pence rule?+
From 17 January 2025, Ofcom requires all UK mobile networks to disclose planned annual mid-contract price rises upfront in exact pounds and pence — not as a vague RPI+3.9% percentage. You should know the precise monthly increase before signing any contract. If a network does not comply with this, you may have grounds to exit your contract penalty-free.
How do I keep my phone number when switching networks?+
Text PAC to 65075 from your current phone — free, within 60 seconds. Give the 9-character code to your new network when signing up. Your number transfers within one working day. Your old contract cancels automatically on the day the port completes. Never cancel your old contract separately beforehand — doing so may permanently lose your number.
